In 2019, there was news that hacker developers were working on flashing the Windows 10 ARM desktop system to the Raspberry Pi. The project made further progress, and Windows 10 was later ported to the Raspberry Pi 4, although it currently only supports 1 GB of memory.
Now the project seems to have made some impressive progress. According to lead developer Jose, thanks to Marcin's contributions, WOA Deployer v3 will allow users to port Windows 10 ARM to Raspberry Pi 3 and even Raspberry Pi 4 devices.
Raspberry Pi 4 has been tested on Windows 10 ARM Build 17134 (April 2018 Update) or later. A group of users are already testing the WOA Deployer 3 alpha release, which should allow you to easily install Windows 10 on Raspberry Pi 3 and Pi 4.
With WOA Deployer 3, you can fit a working version of Windows 10 on a Raspberry Pi, but you'll still need some technical knowledge to set up the operating system on the device.
IT House has learned that Windows 10 runs about 50% faster on a Raspberry Pi 4 than a Raspberry Pi 3 for obvious reasons. While the idea of running Windows 10 on a Raspberry Pi 4 sounds good, the implementation is far from complete. For example, when running Windows 10, only 1GB of the 4GB of RAM supported by the Raspberry Pi 4 is available.
According to Jose, WOA Deployer v3 can also add support for other devices.
"WOA Deployer has 2 different applications, one for Raspberry Pi 3 and one for Lumia phones. The redesigned Deployer 3.0 not only handles more devices, but supports almost All equipment," Jose said.
A group of developers is also bringing Windows 10 ARM to Android phones such as the OnePlus 6, Xiaomi MIX and Samsung Galaxy S8. You can also expect developers to add Android system support to WOA Deployer when the project is ready.
